With a sold out crowd of more than 270 community supporters, the Chamber celebrated businesses and leaders who make San Pedro a better place to work, live and visit. It was truly a quote-worthy event!

“Tim McOsker has raised the bar. So many extraordinary things are coming to San Pedro. I feel blessed and lucky to be working with so many of you.”  Lee Williams, Incoming 2019 Chairman

During the past several months, six wonderful candidates raised funds to support local nonprofits in the community. The candidate who raises the most money “wins” the title of Honorary Mayor of San Pedro. The candidates raised more than $100,000 for 16 nonprofits. At yesterday’s luncheon, Pamela Costa was named the 2019 -2021 Honorary Mayor of San Pedro! As it has been said, in this campaign the charities are the real winners. Pam raised $47,774 for three charities: Maria’s Closets, Pedro Pet Pals and the Port of Los Angeles Charter High School.

“Our troops fight for the rights of all Americans every single day, so it was a no brainer for me – the decision (to support Pride) was made in 2 seconds – our whole crew supported wholeheartedly because that is who we are and it’s a symbol of freedom ” Jonathan Williams – President, CEO – Battleship Iowa

“Instead of seeing an emergency and backing away Amber has gone toward it like a firefighter. That’s why Mayor Garcetti and I named her to the Harbor Area Planning Commission.” – Councilman Joe Buscaino

Leadership Award: Amber Sheikh Ginsberg, Council District 15 Working Group on Homelessness

“When I saw the awards I thought, ‘The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce is honoring love this year!’ I’ve seen so many of you get way out of your comfort zone. And it’s been beautiful. Seeing people on the streets is inhumane, and it’s bad for business–and it’s not who we are! Respect, humanity, dignity and love – let that be our North Star this year and we will all rise with that tide.” Amber Sheikh Ginsberg, Council District 15 Working Group on Homelessness
