Killer Shrimp is located right on the beach in the space formerly occupied by Cantina Real. The space has undergone an amazing transformation from old school Mexican to rock and roll inspired décor, featuring dark black wood floors, contemporary grey walls, and black and white modern and retro photos on the interior walls. This has added so much to the contemporary beach-y feel and ambience of the place, it made for a very fun dining experience.
Another fun part of the dining experience at Killer Shrimp is the Killer Shrimp itself. The signature recipe is a family secret and only the owner and the one person who mixes the spice blend knows what goes in to the spice packages. Each order is made fresh and combined with a secret broth mixture, creating a fantastic, spicy sauce. The fresh shrimp is then added to the boiling sauce until just cooked and rushed to the diner’s table in a large bowl. Each order is served with fresh baked French bread for dipping in the delectable sauce.
We also ordered the rich and delicious Lobster Mac and Cheese and the light and fresh Ahi Tuna Poke, both terrific and flavorful in their own right.
The menu at Killer Shrimp is much more than shrimp, with a variety of appetizers such as calamari, fish tacos, oysters, crab cakes, chicken tenders and quesadillas, soups and salads. For non-fish eaters, Killer Shrimp also has filet mignon, New York steak, Teriyaki sirloin, chicken breast with Dijon mustard sauce, and a pan-seared pork chop with peppercorn sauce.
In addition, there are several mouthwatering desserts on the menu such as Sweet Potato Pecan Pie with Chantilly Cream and Warm Apple Crumble. We tried the Pecan Pie and it was an interesting take on the traditional pecan pie.
Killer Shrimp has a full bar with some fantastic signature cocktails including the famous Killer Shrimp Mojito and the Killer Margarita, featuring high end spirits and fresh fruits and herbs. Killer Shrimp has a happy hour from 4pm to 6pm every weekday and has its original Killer Shrimp dish on throwback Mondays for $9.95. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Killer Shrimp and look forward to sharing our new find with friends and family.
