An age-old South Bay tradition kicks off the summer season in Hermosa. Fiesta Hermosa manages to funnel in hundreds of crafters, painters, jewelers, sculptors, and artists to the Hermosa Beach Pier. This 3-day festival surrounds you with interesting new friends, endless shopping, and a healthy supply of beer and wine. It’s not hard to see why this is a true South Bay event.

You can’t miss the music. This year the weekend was rocked by two separate stages sporting live bands. Music lovers lined up to enjoy Pretzel Logic, an 11-piece superband saluting the music of Steely Dan. Another local favorite Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds brought a reggae flavor to opening day. Music was certainly a major part of the festivities.

And the food! No less than 18 different kinds of ethnic food choices were ready to appease the most selective of taste buds. The Kiddie Carnival was in top form. A fan favorite – the petting zoo – was complemented by a 30-foot slide! Talk about a family affair.

If shopping is more your bag, there were plenty of mini shops to fall in love with. Everything from custom paintings to space-age wine bottle openers were on display. Our favorite, however, had to be the custom handmade South Bay signs. This brought a special local touch to this massive festival.

It’s on our calendar every Memorial Day so save the date for the “largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California.” Can’t wait for next May? You’re in luck- the encore is set for Labor Day Weekend!
